Repurposing matters

Reusing has always been important to me, which is why everything I create is made entirely from ocean waste, sourced locally and hand crafted.  Packaging is also recyclable and reused whenever possible.

Most of the ropes I use are kindly donated and collected from Ilfracombe Quay. Others are beach-combed from my local beaches - Croyde Bay, Woolacombe Bay, Saunton Sands and Instow.  I especially love working with these finds - it means that there's one less knot in the sea!

I label each piece with the amount of rope recycled - a small detail in a bigger story - even my off-cuts are recycled locally, making Knot in the Sea proudly zero waste.

Due to the very nature of its purpose, the rope is strong, rot resistant and very long lasting.  However, these same "qualities" can have a devastating effect if lost at sea or sent to landfill.

Choosing Knot in the Sea means enjoying a unique, handcrafted piece while helping to care for our oceans, beaches and the wildlife that call them home.
